Laboratory facilities and support

Routine Hematology: This service involves the analysis of blood samples to assess various parameters related to the health and well-being of animals. It helps in diagnosing various blood-related disorders and conditions.
Rumen fluid collection and evaluation: Ruminants, including cattle, sheep, and goats, depend significantly on the well-being of their rumen for effective digestion and their overall health. Two key parameters that provide crucial insights into the rumen's health and functionality are its pH level and the composition and activity of its microbial flora and fauna. The Rumen pH is evaluated by litmus paper, and flora and fauna are observed by phase contrast microscopy. It is a specialized microscopy technique that allows for the observation of living microorganisms without staining or damaging them. By using phase contrast microscopy, veterinarians and researchers can assess the abundance, diversity, and activity of the microorganisms in the rumen.

Fecal Sample Examination: Fecal sample examination is a crucial diagnostic tool for identifying gastrointestinal parasites and other intestinal issues in animals. It aids in assessing the digestive health of the patients.

Postmortem examination: Postmortem examinations are routinely performed in VTH for various purposes, including diagnosis, education, research, and disease surveillance. While this procedure is commonly used in the case of birds, it is also performed on ruminants, dogs, and cats. These examinations provide valuable insights into the causes of animal deaths, offering essential information for veterinary students, researchers, and disease control efforts.

Small Animal Radiology Services: Small animal radiology services provide diagnostic imaging through X-rays. This helps in identifying bone fractures, organ abnormalities, and various other internal issues in pets and small animals.

Ultrasound Imaging Services: Ultrasound imaging is a non-invasive technique used to visualize internal structures within an animal's body. It is particularly valuable for examining soft tissues, organs, and pregnancies.

In addition, it receives laboratory support from the following departments of BAU: Microbiology and Hygiene, Parasitology, and pathology.
